This extensive renovation project nearly doubled the size of a family home located in a rural lifestyle subdivision. Originally built just ten years ago, the home was transformed to meet the evolving needs of the family, ensuring it accommodates growing children and changing lifestyles.

 

The project involved the creation of an additional wing, seamlessly integrated into the existing structure, blending old and new elements effortlessly.

 

Calley oversaw the entire design and build process. Due to geotechnical challenges, significant earthworks were required, with over 100 m³ of fill removed before the foundation slab for the new extension could be poured. The expansion not only increases the home’s footprint but also enhances its functionality, future-proofing the space for years to come.

 

The home is thoughtfully divided into distinct sections. The first wing comprises living, dining, and lounging areas that overlook the pool, patios, and rural landscape. The second section includes restful sleeping spaces, a home gym, and a wet room entry. The newly built third wing features a luxurious master suite with a spacious bathroom and walk-in wardrobe, a family room, home office, and a sauna/wet room. 

 

The exterior is clad in rustic country-style brick, contrasted with rusticated cedar weatherboards, offering a timeless look. All three sections are connected in a W shape, forming a sheltered internal courtyard ideal for year-round entertaining.

 

The renovation included a functional scullery off the existing kitchen, which opens to an outdoor breakfast bar and dining patio, perfect for entertaining. Cosmetically updated the living wing including transforming what used to be the laundry, into a wet room entry for muddy feet and outdoor gear, and the garage has been modified to house a home gym.

A key highlight of the new wing is the spa-like sauna, fully glazed and tiled to create a luxurious experience. Pre-waterproofed materials were carefully selected to meet code, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal. 

 

This comprehensive renovation not only enhances the home's design and functionality but also creates a stylish and future-proofed retreat for the family.
