Designed by Architect Brendon Gordon, Calley Homes completed this new Tauranga build project in early 2018.
North facing the home boasts views from the Welcome Bay site out over the harbour towards the Tauranga CBD
and the Mount giving the homeowners breathtaking views. The three bedroom, two bathroom home is built for
lifestyle and entertaining with open plan kitchen, living and dining opening out onto three covered outdoor areas
and a stunning pool with surrounding deck built into the landscape and surrounded by Corten steel cladding -
giving a natural rusted appearance. The home also features a cosy media room and library.
Clad in Coloursteel iron cladding and a combination of vertical and horizontal cedar the home features
two sections the ground floor and the upper level. The cladding choice elevates the design creating
contrasts between the two sections which sit at opposite angles to each other. The attention to detail
on the exterior cladding sees continuous lines and flush mountings such as the garage door’s seamless
appearance against the side entry wall. Even the soffits are Cedar clad. Cedar cladding has also been
utilised for feature walls throughout the home. Negative detailing is also featured throughout the interior.
The home has many environmental considerations from the earth quake strength rib raft floor to the full
solar power system with battery storage and underground storage tanks for collecting the roof water.
The home features a Bosch Hydronic Central Heating system which integrates the heating of the outdoor pool,
Architectural suite window joinery with Low E max glass and 140mm wide timber framing to allow for extra insulation.
Automation throughout the home is controlled by a KNX automation system which operates the solar
panel system, the central heating, lighting, blinds, pool heating, and the in home surround audio system.
Everything about this home has been planned and designed with specialist treatments and advice. From
the award winning state of the art European styled kitchen (built by Mastercraft Kitchens) to the glass clad
entry door with custom LED lighting in the handle to the lighting up the staircase recessed into the handrails
(lighting by Liv Light) this home is built to delight. Interior designers (Steiner) specified feature wallpapers,
radiators that appear more like artwork than heating units and solid oak flooring (Gerrand Floorings)
Even the fireplace in the media room appears to hang in mid air.
